The Story of Little Red Riding Hood

We went to a Halloween birthday party last week, and our whole family dressed up. Kassidy was Little Red Riding Hood, Levi was the Wolf, I was Little Red's sick Grandma, and Kaybree was one of the flowers Little Red picked for her grandma. I was going to have Kaybree be the hunter that rescues them, but Levi thought that wasn't very nice, so we went with the flower. Sadly, we didn't take pics of the wolf and grandma. Kassidy was so proud of her "Riding Hood" and Kaybree loved wearing a tutu. I wasn't particularly fond of the nightgown and knee-highs, but hey, that's life in 50 years. For a story on why Kassidy chose her costume, go to the bottom of the post.

The Wolf snuck into this picture.....not the wolf, just Bear the dog!

Kassidy's favorite show right now is Max and Ruby. It is a show about brother and sister bunnies. Max is the little brother who is always causing mischief while his big sister, Ruby tries to keep him out of it. They have a fairy tale episode called "Ruby Red Riding Hood and the Big Max Wolf." She loves this episode, so when we were at Joann's I asked her what she wanted to be for Halloween. She didn't give me any answers, so I gave suggestions based on the patterns that were on display. As soon as I said "Little Red Riding Hood," her eyes lit up and she said YEAH! So, we bought material for a red riding hood. After making the pattern for the riding hood, and realizing that it was more of a hoodie instead of a cape-like thing (the reason I HATE Butterick patterns), I went back to the drawing board and started over. The final product is what you see above. Luckily, the first attempt is perfect as a fleece pullover for the winter. :) Kassidy is SO proud of her riding hood and LOVES to wear it. Good thing, 'cause when all is said and done she will have dressed up in it no fewer than 5 times. Whew!

Awe they look so adorable! KOen is totally into Max and Ruby right now too...which is mostly annoying cause he acts like Man now saying things like "drink" or "candy" over and over.

Hey Suzi! Good to hear from you! I don't think I have your e-mail address so I'll just comment on your comment! (Have you been a secret reader of my blog or what? I've totally been quietly enjoying yours for a long time!!:)) Unfortunately I am not talented enough to make my own crochet patterns. I am a total beginner. This pattern came from a lady's etsy shop. I bought this pattern and an adorable little girl pattern as well. They are both labeled as "easy" but I'll admit it took me awhile to figure them out. E-mail me if you want more info: ashleyguercio@hotmail.com
