Trip to Alpine

My parents live in Alpine during the summer, so this past Labor Day week we decided to go visit and enjoy being away. We hiked to the pond, roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, listened to the Elk come into camp and bugle, and Levi and my Dad went shooting and fishing. The girls' favorite thing to do was ride Grandpa's 4-wheeler with Daddy. They really just enjoyed being outside and playing almost all day. Levi and Dad went fishing one day at Crescent Lake. Mom, my kids, and I all drove over to have a picnic lunch with them. As soon as we go there it started pouring, and it rained for quite a while. You can see the storm circling back again in this picture.

The girls were both so excited to go fishing with Daddy and Grandpa, and Daddy and Grandpa were so good and patient with them. Right after we got there, Levi caught a fish. He called the girls over to see it, and he was trying to unhook it and throw it back in. Kassidy said, "Daddy, put it back, it's hurting." She takes after her momma. I would much rather read a book in the shade, and I don't eat fish. :) I think it's probably a good thing we had a boy so Levi would have a fishing and hunting partner. That experience didn't stop Kassidy from trying to fish on her own, and she said she wasn't sad about it. Here are our little fishing girls.

It was a fun trip to Alpine, and we look forward to many summer visits there in the future.
