Ned, Ned Ryerson!...Am I right or am I right? Or am I right? Am I right?...Bing!

Back in the day I LOVED the movied groudhog day. I'm not sure why, really, since it does star Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. But, for some reason I liked it, and I always secretly hoped that I would someday make it to Punxsutawney for Groundhog Day. I didn't realize that the movied wasn't really filmed there, but no matter, I still got 1/2 my wish.

Levi did a rotation for CRNA school at the hospital in Punxsutawney. His last weekend there, the girls and I drove up to visit him and see what there was to see. First we went to the Groundhog Zoo, which really isn't a zoo at all. It is a window in the library that houses one tubby woodchuck (woodchuck=groundhog, or so the locals tell us. Hmmm How much wood would a groundhog hog if a groundhog could hog wood? See..doesn't work) Anyway, this is the "zoo." You can tell how interesting it was by the picture.
They also have these groundhog sculptures everywhere that are decorated like the businesses or groups that sponsor them. These things are popular out here. In our town there are frogs and fish.
Next we went to Gobbler's Knob where they hold the celebration each year. Surprisingly, it is TINY. Here is our own little groundhog sitting in the stump.

And here is our other groundhog who was misbehavin'.
Then it started raining, so we quit site-seeing and saved the rest for Saturday. Saturday we drove to Smicksburg. The brochure advertised it as an Amish community. We did see some Amish people, but mostly we saw lots of people/stores that weren't Amish but were doing their best to capitalize on the fact that there were Amish there. Sorry, no pics of the Amish. I wouldn't want someone snapping pics of me just because I'm different (hey look, there's a Mormon! Click!).

So next we went to a state park called Clear Creek. We had a picnic lunch and played in the creek. It was a lot of fun, and for a few hours we kinda felt like we were home in AZ hanging out in the forest. Kassidy started out throwing rocks in the water.

We all stuck our feet in...it was FREEZING COLD! Kassidy didn't care.
Kaybree did.
On our way back we stopped at a cute little farm/zoo/restaurant/golf driving range. They had all kinds of animals that are native to North America in their zoo. Kassidy fed the goats corn.
There were these adorable baby goats.

And an adorable Kaybree.
And just to prove I was there...Kaybree holding on to me for dear life at Clear Creek.
Then we went back to Punxsutawney and relaxed. It was a fun weekend, and I'm glad we did it. I'm sad that Punxsutawney wasn't as exciting as I hoped, but it was fun. Levi really enjoyed his rotation there. He got to experience new things, take lots of naps, go fishing and golfing, and had LOTS of time to study. He was kind of sad to come back to normal life, but the girls and I are glad to have him back for good. :)

I'm a little jealous, but the not at the same time. I loved that movie too and have wanted to have a chance to go there and see what it is like. I just hate finally being able to go to one of those dream places and have it not live up to expectations.

You take such awesome pictures and the subjects are always so stinking cute, but I have to say that the picture of Kassidy in trouble is so awesome. She looks like such a little girl and her hair looks beautiful.
